10 Ways To Enjoy the Pacific Northwest this Holiday Season

Alright, it’s a weird year, and even stranger holiday season what with no traditional visits with family and friends. If you’ve met me or followed along my social, you likely know I have two young daughters, so my wife and I are always on the looking for family-friendly entertainment, but also new ways to spend time together - safely. Despite the curveballs of the year, the Northwest just doesn’t disappoint - here is my round-up of 10 seasonal to-dos for families and couples. I hope you enjoy!

  • DATE NIGHT - “Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker,” the cinematic cut: this show, typically performed live downtown at The Triple Door, is the ultimate date night in Seattle each holiday season. Luckily, the producers produced a film version that is available for a festive, post-bedtime rental - and very easily streamed. Highly recommend!

  • FAMILY FUN/WEST SEATTLE-STYLE - Light Up West Seattle Luminaries: we’re starting a new tradition in West Seattle thanks to the good people at the West Seattle Junction. If you’re from these parts, take a look at how you can take part on December 19!

  • FAMILY/FRIEND FUN THAT GIVES BACK - TROVE is a subscription and gift box service that curates a 'vacation in a box'. Each TROVE box takes you to a new city and features interactive, virtual workshops with expert local chefs and artisans. As an homage to their hometown, TROVE curated a special holiday box that highlights Seattle food and culture with some fun virtual workshops to be enjoyed with family near or far.

  • FAMILY FUN - Seattle Rep’s Public Works presentation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night coming December 10 is a great way to intro your kids to theatre - plus there is music involved!

  • FAMILY FUN - Sledding and snow fun in Leavenworth! Just head to Leavenworth and go outside! I suggest pairing this outing with snow clothes, mittens, and hot cocoa.

  • FAMILY FUN - Candy Cane Lane is a classic tradition. A drive through North Seattle to look at the lights while the kids sip cocoa and the Christmas tunes play, frankly, just doesn’t disappoint in our household. We haven’t gone yet this season, but be sure to follow on social for the ensuing family pic ;)

  • FAMILY FUN - WildLanterns at Woodland Park Zoo: we haven’t been yet, but we plan to get there because it just looks so cool and we love the zoo!

  • DATE NIGHT - Can Can’s Show-To Go is really fun. Not only can you watch a Can Can show from your own couch, you can also order one of Can Can’s delicious meals (including drinks!) and they’ll have it delivered to you fresh - anywhere nationwide. We really love and miss Can Can!

  • FAMILY FUN - Snowflake Lane in Bellevue is more of a drive-thru experience this year, but when the options are so limited, it’s a great one for safe evening fun out of the house with the kids. Every night, 5:00-9:00 p.m..

  • FAMILY FUN - Santa Calls, the 2020 offering from Enchant Christmas is sure to bring some magic to the kids during this weird Christmas season. Call your kids, as Santa - check it out!
